GOLDSBORO, NC | Prahalad Srinivasan made history on Saturday by claiming the 1A East Regional Championship and securing his spot as the #1 seed in next week's NCHSAA State Championship.

In Friday afternoon action, Srinivasan breezed past Nick Sedman-Young (Eno River) and Yuvi Singh (River Mill), winning both matches in straight sets (6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1). His dominant performances in rounds 1 and 2 set the stage for Saturday morning's semifinal match against Tyler Hinshaw of Voyager Academy. Srinivasan continued his impressive play, dispatching Hinshaw in straight sets with a scoreline of 6-0, 6-2.

Srinivasan's victory in the semifinals set up a showdown against Chatham Central's Jacob Gilliland in the final. Gilliland proved to be a formidable opponent, winning the first set 6-1. However, Srinivasan showed his resilience by bouncing back to take the second set 6-3. In the final set, Srinivasan was simply too strong, winning 6-2 and claiming the regional championship.

The victory was a historic one for TMSA, as Srinivasan became the school's first-ever NCHSAA Regional Championship winner in any sport.

Srinivasan will now turn his attention to the state championship, which gets underway next week (May 12th and 13th) at Cary Tennis Park.
